ABS is a leading international classification society devoted to promoting the security of life, property and the marine environment through the development and verification of standards for the design, construction and operational maintenance of marine-related facilities. The society has been at the forefront of developing Rules and Guidance for vessels operating in low temperatures. ABS and the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) have joined to develop classification Rules for Arctic Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers.
